This project is working with a non-profit organisation based in the heart of Cusco that acts as a haven for children & adolescents who are at risk and live in extreme poverty. Most attend the state school's where there is a lack of creative education and this project wishes to nurture and develop the creative skills of the children. It is open throughout the day and is run by a staff of volunteer teachers and social workers.
Children are given the opportunity to voluntarily drop in and participate in a variety of creative classes and workshops that teach them valuable skills including carpentry, handicrafts, shoe repair, cooking, music, arts and English. As well as the activities children also come for homework support
They also have a garden with flowers and vegetables and welcome volunteers with a green finger!
The majority of their activities rely on donations but they do try to fundraise by selling leather and artisan products the children make by hand in the workshops. Volunteers are needed who can assist in running workshops listed above or in other creative activities such as:
