Creatively changing lives

Creative Corners set to launch!

Creative Corners set to launch! July 19, 2006

Calling all Creative people for an Adventure of a Lifetime!

Are you a creative, an artist with an urge to travel, a disillusioned teacher or sick of 9-5 & don’t know how to escape?

Could you devise a play in a Bolivian orphanage? Teach photography to teen mums in Nicaragua? Design a website for one of their projects? Skill-share moves in a Brazilian social Circus? Redecorate a children’s home or simply plant a garden in an orphanage in Peru?

If you can act, play guitar, juggle, sing, tell stories, dance, paint, build, teach circus skills, sculpture, design, puppetry or even if you are a photographer, jewellery or film maker, keen gardener or DIYer then Creative Corners needs YOU!

Creative Corners are looking for all creative people who have an urge to do something more - to travel with purpose.

Creative Corners is a new and unique not for profit volunteer agency providing flexible, rewarding and effective international volunteer opportunities specialising in the creative arts abroad.  Projects will be well planned and all profits will be put back into the projects to set up music and arts centers in places where they are most needed for disadvantaged, abused and abandoned children in developing countries.

Even if you don’t think you are ‘creative’ but have passion and the vision to volunteer then get in touch and let Creative Corners brainstorm with you on ideas of running a worthwhile project - why not learn how to teach jewellery making before you go? Digital photography? Building Greenhouses? The possibilities are endless..

Founded by Monique Julian, an Australian community arts worker now based in London after 8 years travelling through and working in 40 countries around the world, Creative Corners was dreamed up after she became frustrated trying to find a company to help her arrange a creative volunteer placement abroad.  Although there are an abundance of volunteer and GAP year organisations she found none specialising in creative projects and very few who seemed both reasonably priced and charitable.

Monique says ‘we aim to stay specialised and focused on creative projects which means finding talented artists, teachers and creative people so that we can create a passionate and creative network of artists pitching their vision and skills to creatively change lives around the world.

We also encourage volunteers to strive for an element of public performance, exhibition, installation, recording or publication of the work produced during the project. “Process” will always be important, but striving towards a final goal or “product” whether that be a performance, photo exhibit, CD recording or published calendar, provides a tangible goal and WIN/Win situation for everyone involved … you won’t regret the challenge!’

Creative Corners hopes to send skilled artists, musicians, dancers, poets, art workers and creative teachers from diverse backgrounds to provide or assist with an extensive range of arts projects in various orphanages, NGO’s, rural communities, children’s homes, social circuses and drug and rescue projects for street children in South and Central America.

Trips are available for volunteers from anywhere in the world for individuals, couples, groups, 'corporate' and even family teams. We have projects looking for willing creative workers from as little as one week to 12 weeks and beyond depending on the project chosen and how long you've got!

Creative Corners; The Global Arts Project is set to launch July 19th 2006!    Dozens of exciting and creative projects throughout South and Central America are now waiting for you.
