A local business for creating educational, cultural and arts based workshops has cause for celebration this week. Originally a Princes Trust Start up business “Workshop Network” celebrates its second anniversary with a new look website and promises to deliver more exciting community and school based events over the coming years.

The agency, based in the Midlands, provides a dual-service within the creative arts workshop industry. Highly innovative it creates connections between artists and organisations, schools, college groups, councils, library’s, nurseries, festival and event organisers etc all over the country.

Gary Cicinskas, the driving force behind Workshop Network has a personal vision to promote and create engaging workshops for participants from all backgrounds.

“It was actually community workshops that got me back on the straight and narrow and I am passionate about the great opportunities cultural and educational workshops can give young people today. Officially I would have been viewed as a youth in danger of exclusion until I started to participate in extra curricular drama workshops with Leicestershire Youth Arts”

Over his late teenage years, Gary, performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with L.Y.A. and achieved access to university through an open college network qualification.

“If it wasn’t for youth arts I certainly wouldn’t have made it to college, this is way I’m so passionate about providing opportunities for other people to try their hand at the many different arts workshops available on our site.”

Through the use of a simple search engine on the website you can view all of the workshops available in your area. You can determine your needs either geographically or you may be looking for a specific workshop, rest assured you can find it through the Workshop Network. There is a surprising selection from dance, drama, visual arts and music workshops to more peripheral art forms such as Circus Training or Japanese Origami.

Now celebrating their second anniversary Workshop Network has helped organise hundreds of different community events, educational and cultural workshops across the UK. Currently working closely with the Nottingham City Council Safeguarding Board to ensure their safety procedures are second to none, Workshop Network looks forward to the coming years.

“It’s been a struggle at times but we’re proud to say that we’ve come this far, many small businesses fold within their first year but we’re looking good for the future. We’re currently working hard to secure the business and the recent government initiative every child matters means that our service will be of more use to schools and local authorities. We recently ran workshops at the Muslim Expo at London’s Earls Court which has been a highlight of the last two years.”
