James Cartee is heading to Peru and would like your support to help get him there. February 10, 2009

James Cartee,  a graduate teaching assistant at Auburn University in Alabama is set to travel to Peru this May to work with the Arts Haven Project.  http://www.creative-corners.com/destinations/project/id/24

This non-profit organisation based in the heart of Cusco acts as a safe haven for children & adolescents who are at risk and live in extreme poverty. Most attend the state school's where there is a lack of creative education and this project wishes to nurture and develop the creative skills of the children.

It is open throughout the day and is run by a staff of volunteer teachers and social workers.
Children are given the opportunity to voluntarily drop in and participate in a variety of creative classes and workshops that teach them valuable skills including carpentry, handicrafts, shoe repair, cooking, music, arts and English. As well as the activities children  also come for homework support.

James will also be spending a few weeks with a very special orphanage based in the Sacred Valley.  Run by an American family who have adopted 30 orphans they now have an incredible home and have created an environment where 30 orphans prosper through education, cultural & performing arts, permaculture, spiritual development, & social and vocational programs.

James has chosen to dedicate his summer to working with children from another culture and will be sharing his teaching experience and artistic skills to work with the children in both these projects.  James is aiming to get as much support for his journey as possible so that funds can be raised for these children as well as for resources for other projects that Creative Corners work with.

If you are able to donate towards James' effort any amount small or large will be greatly appreciated and 100% will go directly to help the projects.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to support James and the projects in South America.
