December 2009 saw Creative Corners first Creative Christmas Cards Exchange Project. 60 children from an orphanage in La Paz Bolivia made beautiful cards to send to Christ the King Catholic Primary School in Leicester in the United Kingdom.
The project that made the cards is a an orphanage that has a unique arts program for children aged 5-12 and where Creative Corners volunteers teach and run arts programs each afternoon.
In exchange Christ the King Primary School sent over 300 very artistic cards for the children of this home. As their were so many cards we were also able to give them to children in another orphanage with children aged 0-8 years and to children begging on the street at Christmas time.
The children in the orphanages were so excited to receive their cards - all which had information about who it was from, their age and hobbies so the children were asking: "Is mine from a boy or a girl?! " " How old are they?" "what do they do?"
It was a lovely project which we hope to repeat this Christmas.
