You might be asking yourself why pay to volunteer?
- By volunteering with an established organisation you can be reassured that you will be volunteering with a project that needs your help, you will be staying with a family that has been vetted and checked, you will have suitable insurance and you will have the opportunity to work with arts and travel professionals who have personally visited every project and can help you plan a creative project that will work for you and the children.
So where does the money go?
- Creative Corners is a registered Community Interest Company and Social Enterprise in the UK. This means we are required to re-invest our profits back into the communities in which we work. No one but the projects will ever profit from Creative Corners.
- Your Project fee is used to pay your family for your accomodation and breakfast, your travel insurance and airport collection. Creative Corners also donates US$50 for each volunteer to the Creative Corners Fund which is used to supply arts resources needed on projects.
- We need to send 85 volunteers a year to cover administration costs after which 100% of profits per volunteer placement get donated to Arts For Change to be distributed to the projects to provide further arts education resources.
Our Prices:
- We aim to keep our prices low by working hard, but smart, keeping our overhead to an absolute minimum with no unnecessary spending on glossy brochures or advertising. We rely on word of mouth, free links and people believing in our projects.
- We also don’t want to be huge, which is why we stay focused and specialised so to recruit the best volunteers for the job.
- Most of all we want to make volunteering accessible to a wider audience – especially to the type of people we need and want to recruit – artists, teachers and creative people.
- And unlike other organisations we do not pay ‘in-country co-ordinators’. Creative Corners is for a particular type of person who has the maturity to live and work away from home. We believe that the support of a host family / accommodation and project contact, along with an organised airport collection is more than enough.
Fundraising:
Why not use your skills to come up with a creative fundraising idea to pay for your project fee? Or look for an artists/teachers overseas professional development grant? Get creative, get fundraising and get going!
